The project is going very well. YuCha and First Steps Himalaya are working hand in hand to make this rebuilding project the most efficient as possible. Taking into account the situation and the needs on site in Nepal, we have set the starting date of the rebuilding on the 21st of March. A team is already on the ground to prepare the site. According to the fundraising numbers, the situation in the area and following the advices of First Steps Himalaya, in charge of the operations in Nepal, we choose together to rebuild the school of Mulkharka, a remote and very affected village of the Kadambas community (VDC).
In an ecological concern, we are exploring every possibilities to rebuild not only with the earthbag technique, but also reusing and recycling existing material still exploitable from the former structure. At this stage, it appears there is a way to reuse the metallic trusses of the destroyed school. This will reduce the costs significantly and could allow us to invest in the outfit of the classrooms, if we achieve our fundraising goal of 30 000€.
Next tuesday, the 15th of March, we will leave for Nepal. We will stay in Kathmandu for a fews days to set up the last details before heading to Kadambas and start building.
A few volunteers have already signed up and will join us to help rebuilding the school. If you too are interested in participating and living a unique experience, contact us at [email protected].
We are still actively searching for donors and it is still time to take part and contribute to the project. Plenty of promises of donations still have to arrive and we are convinced that we can go much further.
Don't hesitate to share our project through this website or our fundraising page www.youcaring.com/kadambas_school.

A 5.5 magnitude earthquake struck Nepal on friday the 5th of February with a epicenter located in Sindhupalchok District.
Friday the 5th of February around 10 pm (local time), a 5.5 earthquake was felt at 55 km north-east of Kathmandu in Sindhupalchok district forcing panicked residents to rush out of their homes and injuring 10 people. Not even a year after the devastating earthquakes of April 25 and May 12 2015, this new tremor scared local people on their way to reconstruction.
More than ever, earthquake resistant buildings are needed. Help is needed, help them to feel secure.
