NEPAL
MULKHARKA SCHOOL
EARTHBAG REBUILDING PROJECT (2016)

In 2016, YuCha set up a rebuilding project in Nepal following the devastating earthquakes occurred in April and May 2015 causing 9,000 casualties, 80,000 houses and destroying 30,000 classrooms.
In March 2016, YuCha left to Nepal to rebuild a school in the village of Mulkharka (Sindhupalchok district) in partnership with First Steps Himalaya.  The school was built with the earthbag technique which is earthquake resistant, ecofriendly, quick and cheap.

In 10 weeks, with 21 volunteers, 21 paid local workers and 84 donors, YuCha built a 6 classrooms school allowing 160 children to carry on their education, pillar of our world.  The project cost 18.000 € and was a success, as the school was qualified "one of strongest in Nepal" by Owen Geiger, an worldwide expert in earthbag technique.
